about us

The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award

is the world’s leading youth achievement award, with more than 1.3 million young people in 144 countries participating.

The Award helps young people to develop skills that future employers and education institutions value highly, giving them an edge in the ever changing modern world. This is why 8 million young people have already completed an Award.

The Award is open to anyone 14-24 years old and is available in 3 levels – Bronze, Silver, & Gold. Each of the levels is divided into 4 skill-developing sections. Getting started is very straightforward – so what are you waiting for?

If you would like to learn more about the Award in other countries, please see the International Award Foundation website.

Vision

Our Vision is that The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award is used as a platform for the holistic development of all the youth (age 14-24) of Nepal; complementing their formal education, providing opportunities for them to challenge themselves, and bringing out their hidden potential. In doing this, the Award increases young people’s options for accessing and achieving in further study and employment, and provides them with unique international accreditation of their experiences.

Mission

Our Mission is to develop partnerships and relationships with organisations across Nepal that share our Vision to deliver the Award to all the youth of Nepal. We will do this strategically and creatively through schools, NGOs, INGOs, businesses and corporations, Government agencies, and more, while using these relationships to assist marginalised youth to participate in the Award as 10% of the whole.
who we are

Award History

The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award equips young people for life. It is the world’s leading youth achievement award.

The Award was founded by HRH The Duke of Edinburgh in 1956, in conjunction with Kurt Hahn, the German educationalist. Both were concerned that young people’s development was lacking in certain key areas, and they resolved to create a programme that would be a ‘do-it-yourself kit’ for inspired living.
